Rose Pirouette

I would like to start my first blog with a free crochet pattern – Rose Pirouette.

First of all let’s choose the yarn and the size of the crochet hook. You can use any yarn that is available to you and of course any color that you like! Same goes for the crochet hook… I would suggest to use the size of the hook that is described on your yarn label. Depending on the size that you choose, the size of the Rose Pirouette may vary.

I’ve used 100% acrylic yarn with a hook size of 2.5mm which translates in a finished rose of around 5cm in diameter.

The pattern is made in rows, with the turn on the end of each row. In the end it’s rolled into the shape of the rose, that’s where the Pirouette name originated from.

Used stitches:

SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Start with: Chain 81

Row 1:

DC in to the 6th chain from the hook, *chain 1, skip 2, DC in to the next stitch, chain 2, DC in the same stitch*, repeat from * to * until the end of the chain 81, turn

w1

Row 2:

Chain 3 (count as 1 DC), in the first chain 2 space from the previous row do: 1 DC, chain 2, 2 DC, chain 1;
In the next chain 2 space from the previous row make: *2 DC, chain 2, 2 DC, chain 1*, repeat from * to * in every chain 2 space until the end of the row, turn

w2

Row 3:

Count 6 chain 2 space from the end of the row, and put a marker on the 6th one.

w3

*In chain 2 space from the previous row do 8 DC,  in the chain 1 space from the previous row do SC * repeat from * to * until you reach your marker. In the marked *chain 2 space do 12 DC, into the chain 1 space from the previous row do SC, repeat from * to * until you reach the end of the row.

Cut a yarn but leave longer tail for sewing.

Roll up your work to form a rose and sew through the basic row to fasten it.
The shape of the rose depends on how you choose to tight up the roll, feel free to experiment with it!
